Course Plan For Electrician Training Program

The Electrician Training Program is a two-year course that teaches students how to work with electricity. Students learn safety, wiring, and how to use electrical machines. They get hands-on practice through projects and real work experience. At the end of the course, students receive a National Trade Certificate (NTC), which helps them find jobs as electricians or start their own businesses.

Course Details

Duration: Two Years

Eligibility: Completed 10th class with Science and Mathematics or a relevant vocational subject.

Minimum Age: 14 years as of the first day of the academic session.

Course Objective

  1. Technical Skills Development: Enhance hands-on skills in wiring and equipment maintenance.
  2. Understanding Electrical Principles: Teach basic electrical laws and circuit analysis.
  3. Machine Operation Proficiency: Make students familiar with motors, generators, and renewable energy systems.

  6. Practical Application: Facilitate hands-on experience through projects and on-the-job training.
  7. Certification Preparation: Prepare students to earn the National Trade Certificate (NTC).

Course Structure

1 .Professional Skill (Trade Practical)
  • Safety practices, use of fire extinguishers, electrical tools, and cables.
  • Basic electrical laws and circuit practices (single-phase and poly-phase).
  • Wiring installations (MCB, energy meters) and earthing.
  • Practice with measuring instruments and heating equipment.

2. Professional Knowledge (Trade Theory)
  • Understanding electrical principles, components, and regulations.

3. On-the-Job Training (OJT)/Group Project
  • Real-world experience or group project.

  • Study and practice with DC machines, motors, and alternators.
  • Speed control and performance analysis of machines.
  • Working with electronic components like diodes and control cabinets.
  • Testing and repairing electrical devices (UPS, inverters).

2. Professional Knowledge (Trade Theory)
  • In-depth study of electrical systems and renewable energy sources.

3. On-the-Job Training (OJT)/Group Project
  • Further industry experience or group project.

  • Join the industry as a technician, progressing to Senior Technician, Supervisor, or Manager.
  • Start your own business in the electrical field.
  • Pursue further education through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
  • Join advanced vocational courses under DGT.

National Trade Certificate (NTC): Awarded upon successful completion of the course by the Directorate General of Training (DGT).

National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC): Available through internship programs.

Opportunity to pursue a diploma in engineering through lateral entry.

Option to enroll in Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) to become an instructor.
